Aus unendlichen
Sehnsüchten steigen
endliche Taten wie schwache Fontänen,
die sich zeitig und zitternd neigen.
Aber, die sich uns sonst verschweigen,
unsere fröhlichen Kräfte – zeigen
sich in diesen tanzenden Tränen.
Vor dem leeren
Baugrund
mit geschlossenen Augen warten
bis das alte Haus
wieder dasteht und offen ist
Beginning in late 2017, I felt the irresistible urge to perform a song by
Brahms that was occupying me excessively. It was too short to play as an
encore, so I decided to expand it in the manner of the Liszt-Schubert Soirees
de Vienne. From this grew the desire to continue with other works by Brahms,
to learn more about his music in the process and to relate to the spirit of
longing that seems to fill it. In time I have moved away from Brahms to find
my own way with music. I make no pretensions as to the musical depth
and value of these works of mine, they are merely musings and experiments that
I am sharing with whoever wishes to listen.
With Mel Williams: Emperor Radetzky of Sheba and the Sailors of Brandenburg,

Strauss: Pizzicato Polka, transcr. piano 6 hands
